As part of our continued efforts to protect the University against cyber-attacks, we are deploying Sophos Endpoint Protection across all Windows desktop computers connected to the campus network. A centrally managed deployment system will be used to deploy the Sophos agent.
As a first step, we have enabled the verification and installation of the deployment agent to domain-joined Windows computers that currently do not have the software installed. Then from the deployment system we will run a script that verifies and installs Sophos if it’s not already present. This script has already been running for several weeks on branches managed by Information Technology.
For Macintosh/Linux computers: the agent will require a manual installation.
We are now ready to have all branches run this scrip, we are asking asking that those responsible run it by August 25, 2017. A procedure entitled is available to assist you. Should you require assistance with installation to your branch, please submit an incident in Service Now and assign to CCS-ITSI-Deskside Support.
As a reminder, other anti-spyware/malware products (ie: Microsoft forefront, Defender) should no longer be used on university-owned computers.
Your continued co-operation during these activities is greatly appreciated and essential in keeping the University safe. For any questions, contact the Service Desk.
