Accelerated migrations leads to new phase for Office 365

Posted on Friday, July 20, 2018

Over half of the University’s Outlook accounts are now converted to Office 365 for email and Calendar activities!

Migration progress

Ahead of schedule, many of the employees are now using Office 365 in the cloud. The migrations have been proceeding at a clipped rate and 36 units are on board the new platform. Of these, seven are faculties. Most of the faculties will be done by August. The rest of the sectors are expected to be migrated by December. 64% of the accounts have been processed – that’s 12,757 people!

Collaborating even more

With core services and faculties well advanced in the migrations, we’re starting to turn our attention toward the next phase of the Office 365 initiative: online applications.

Collaborative tools are coming! They will enable us to work better with each other – making distance a negligible factor. Think “Work anywhere, anytime” with much more mobility.

At a conference? You’ll be able to step out and carry out an online meeting with your University colleagues. Informal communications with peers across campus that pop-up in real time. You’ll have the convenience of OneDrive, always available when you need it. Because you have access to OneNote online, you’ll have access to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on your web browser.

Collaboration tools … Teams … we’re working on it! Stay tuned for the next update in the fall.
