Remote working leaves us all vulnerable to new cybersecurity threats and risks, so we must be increasingly diligent. To enhance overall security, the University’s Administration Committee approved the adoption of 15 new security schedules and the implementation of a risk exception process to improve standardization, guidance, and transparency around the use of technology.

After 31 years at the University, Faculty of Engineering Systems Manager Michel Racine is retiring from an exciting and engaging career that has allowed him to see and participate in creating the university of tomorrow.

Working together is success." Information Technology has been on a journey to embrace new ways of working, collaborating and communicating to advance priorities outlined in Transformation 2030 and the Digital Campus Transformation Plan. This renewed teamwork mentality started with a Teamwork, communication and trust workshop and has continued on a path towards personal development. 

The uOttawa Enterprise Architecture (EA) program has experienced a significant shift in the wake of COVID-19 and the accelerated digital transformation of the institution. The EA team has grown to include architects on key project portfolios such as Facilities, Teaching and Learning Support Service, and the Administrative Services Modernization Program.

Last fall, we started a project where students at the University could gain practical knowledge through hands-on work in their field of study. The "Future of higher education" project focused on developing an e-learning model for the uOttawa, especially for a post-COVID era. 

Students with questions for their faculties at peak periods have long had to wait in a queue with little information on how long their wait times will be. Enter QLess: A queue management and appointment booking platform that uses virtual and automated queue technology to eliminate the need for physical lines and lengthy wait periods on campus.

Through a series of fortunate events, a researcher approached Patrick Provencher, Manager of IT Support Services at the Faculty of Arts about sharing a programmer. Patrick knew they could leverage a programmer but hadn’t budgeted for the expense. He reached out to Daniel Trottier, Senior Director of IT Solutions, to see if there were opportunities to share a resource. From there, a partnership project was born.
