Portrait of Lucien Levreault
What is your job title?

Director, Information Technology at the Faculty of Engineering.

How do you see your role going forward?

I will help ensure that the Faculty of Engineering is ideally suited, from a technological standpoint, to provide the best experience for its students and staff, and to support our research efforts as well. I will do this in cooperation with other faculties and services as well as with Information Technology but am ready to be creative and innovative as well.

Where did you complete your studies?

I started at McGill University in Food Microbiology and ended up at Memorial University of Newfoundland where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

What is your secret superpower?

Making people laugh.

In which countries have you lived or which ones have you visited?

I have worked in eastern, central, and western Canada as well as on the east and west coasts of the United States. I have also visited Greece, Costa Rica, Mexico, Aruba, and Saint Lucia.

What is your hidden passion?

Singing, which I keep to the shower to save others from the pain.

What is your guilty indulgence?

Chocolate and fresh baked bread.

What is your unknown / hidden talent?

Making people feel comfortable. I am also a good listener.

Yesterday is gone and not coming back, tomorrow is not guaranteed, enjoy today to its fullest.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?

Languages, specifically Spanish, Italian, and German.

If you were to write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?

“Meant To Be”, because despite the odds I ended up being very fortunate in my life. I am very thankful.

What are you learning now, and why is it important?

I am working on a Cloud Computing certificate. It is important because the traditional data centre model is outdated and no longer meets all the needs of an institution like uOttawa.

Basketball, Toronto Raptors followed by the LA Lakers.

What trend do you hope makes a comeback?

80’s big hair. I always wanted a mullet.
