What is your job title?

Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

How do you see your role going forward?

My role is to change the community’s mindset regarding IT security, contribute to Transformation 2030, and help implement the Digital Campus Transformation Plan.

We can secure personal and corporate information while supporting other initiatives and objectives. I will be collaborating with students, professors, and support staff to find solutions together.

Where did you complete your studies?

I hold a Master’s of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

In which countries have you lived or which ones have you visited?

I was born in Switzerland. I lived there for most of my life before moving to France in 2013 and then Canada in 2017. I’ve travelled across Canada (5 provinces), the United States (25 states), United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Austria, Sweden, China, and Japan.

What is your guilty indulgence?

“Parfait” (Swiss pork liver spread), DQ ice cream, and my wife’s desserts.

What is your unknown / hidden talent?

My dad was a baker and I worked with him when I was a student. I learned how to make bread and pastries.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I weighed 120kg (265 pounds)when I decided to start training for triathlon. Within a year, I lost 25kg (55 pounds), took swimming lessons, bought a bike, learned how to run for more than 30 seconds, and ran a few races (1 running race, 1 cycling race, and 4 short distance triathlons). I also learned that running a marathon distance in the Alps (cumulative elevation gain of 3000m) is long distance for my first race in the mountains!

What are you learning now, and why is it important?

That’s a tricky question because life is a continuous learning process. I learn something new every day.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

My friends would describe me as friendly, funny, and a person of integrity.

What’s your favourite sport to watch and which team do you root for?

I prefer playing sports, but I like watching hockey. We have great teams in Switzerland, but now I support the Senators!
