For years now, Information Technology staff have been donating funds to support students studying in a computer program. Facilitated by the now-defunct Employee Giving Program, the OneCard Fund established by IT was chosen as its funding project because analysts, programmers, and managers participated in converting the regular student card into a smart card that allowed payment for campus services such as printing, food outlets, the Bookstore and more.
This year, the selection committee consisted of Nicole Longeway, Parami Gunasekara, and Jacqueline Oliver. Choosing among the 97 applicants was difficult. At the end of the day, we awarded three students the last of the funds, split evenly between them. An e-transfer in April facilitated the remittal of the money in time for the end of the academic semester. Thanks to all Information Technology staff who generously gave throughout the years, and best of success to our three awardees.
