Information Technology has embarked on a project to replace the current corporate solution for e-commerce (Websphere and General store) with a new platform. E-commerce facilitates the processing and coordination of financial transactions made via our website, uOttawa.ca. It enables us to offer payment by credit card, calculation of shipping charges, automatic communications related to purchases, and more. In 2016, thousands of orders were facilitated with e-commerce.
We want to ensure that when users complete a financial transaction online, we are offering them an easy, safe and secure process. We are upgrading our current platform to comply with the latest Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) while implementing features to facilitate the sale and shipment of goods and services, and processing of event registrations and payments.
Because users across the campus are taking advantage our current solution, it was important to gather feedback and requirements for the selection of our new solution. Over 100 staff members were consulted through meetings, group discussions and by survey.
A Request for Proposal (RFP) will be posted shortly, and once a solution is selected, more information will be provided.
