Security is everyone’s responsibility. To empower you in strengthening uOttawa’s overall security, we’ve enabled a new button in Outlook to report suspicious email easily and immediately. Quick reporting of phishing helps reduce the success of malicious campaigns and helps us improve our spam filters.

See a ‘phishy’ message?

  • In Outlook: click on the Report message button on the upper-right corner of the Home ribbon.
  • In Outlook for the Web: open the email options (the three horizontal dots to the right of the email subject) and click the Report message option.
  • On your mobile device: forward the email to phishing@uOttawa.ca.

Using this button, automates reporting and the deletion of the message.

Get detailed steps for Report a suspicious email on the Information Technology website. For quick review of the threat, this function should be reserved for suspicious emails only and not SPAM.

This new feature is an important step in improving the security of accounts and information at the University. By taking the simple step to report a suspicious message, you can help stop an attack in its tracks.
