To improve mobility and support student administration, Information Technology has created a tool that provides a real-time estimation of in-person wait times for many services at the University of Ottawa. Web Services, InfoService, Enrolment Management and other University services worked together on its design to receive, calculate and display information provided by the QMatic self-service kiosks.
To access the new tool, visit the University of Ottawa contact page. A window will appear on the page displaying in real time information on the number of people waiting in line, their wait time thus far and the service they requested. After a few seconds, it minimizes to the size of a small icon on the right-hand side of the page. The icon is only active during the services’ hours of operation.
The University contact page is currently the only place where this tool is being used. Thanks to the many flexible built-in options, it can be integrated to other web pages.
