The semiannual Information Technology townhall was held on December 13, 2017.
Michel Lapointe, acting CIO, thanked the staff for their dedication and hard work on all the initiatives undertaken in the past year. To mention a few: the progression of through an entire business cycle for uoCampus, the Exchange migration, network project, and the Office 365 project. An update was given on the coffee breaks the CIO led regarding the Work Climate survey. Excellent suggestions came out of the sessions, some of which will be implemented in the upcoming months.
One of the topics which arose from Information Technology’s work climate assessment was communication within the organization. To address, Paul Mercier, one of our Information Technology Managers, led a six-sigma exercise. Teams were mixed up to create a diversity of opinions and assigned tables where each group brainstormed on causes and effects. Each table completed an Ishikawa (fishbone) diagram which were collected to assess the results. More on this will continue in the New Year.
Michel also highlighted upcoming changes to the management team. Daniel Trottier begins his mandate as Senior Director of IT Solutions in January. As a result, Lucien Levreault will assume the role of Acting Senior Director of IT Services and Infrastructure. Everyone also acknowledged the contributions of Lino Amato, one of the current Director of IT Solutions, who will be leaving at the end of 2017.
The presentations were followed by a buffet lunch with plenty of good conversation and holiday cheer!
